How we’re regulated

Dr Morton's is regulated by the Care Quality Commission ('CQC'), the regulator of NHS and private medical providers. The CQC is responsible for supervising compliance with The Health and Social Care Act 2008, which Act sets out the standards under which providers can offer medical services remotely. Dr Morton’s was last inspected by the CQC on 24 February 2017, who published their report on 16 August 2017. The CQC’s report is available from the following link:

The role of Dr Morton's is to refer customers to appropriately qualified doctors who are each registered with the General Medical Council ("GMC") to provide medical advice and the role of the doctor is to provide that medical advice by telephone or secure portal email, but not by physical visit. The GMC number of each doctor is available against each Doctor's name under the section headed Real Doctors on this website.

Dr Morton's operates ethically, provides individual evidence-based transparent and safe consultations, adheres to professional standards and keeps you the customer informed, keeps your records confidential and secure, asks you for feedback and offers you access using your own password to your records after every consultation. Our written complaints procedure is set out under Terms and Conditions. We survey customer satisfaction.

Dr Morton's is not a pharmacy or chemist and does not sell medicine direct to the public. No medicine is provided to a customer without a prescription from one of our doctors. If a doctor decides that a prescription is appropriate and issues one for you, it will be dispensed by our partner pharmacy. Doctors are individually responsible for the prescriptions they issue. Pharmacists are responsible for dispensing.

Dr Morton’s is not a laboratory and does not receive or process test samples. If a doctor decides that a test is appropriate and issues a test kit for you, the request will be handled by our partner lab.
